Romania’s prime minister, Victor Ponta, is accused of plagiarism; the scientific magazine Nature says it saw documents indicating more than half of Ponta’s thesis on the International Criminal Court consisted of duplicated text. According to Reuters, Ponta said he would not resign and accused president Traian Basescu “of orchestrating the accusations as part of their political feud”. The accusations were also published in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Several members of the new Romanian Government were also accused of plagiarism. More, plagiarism seems to become an “European sindrome”. Hungary’s President and the German Defense Minister stepped down after plagiarism charges.
