Referendum boycott

Romanian opposition calls for referendum boycott. PDL and the suspended President Traian Basescu asked their supporters not to vote in the Sunday, July 29, referendum on impeaching President Traian Basescu, in an effort to keep turnout below 50 percent and invalidate the result, according to Reuters.

When the impeachment procedure started, Traian Basescu asked all his supporters to express their will and go to vote. In the meantime, Basescu has changed his mind.
