11 Romanian and Israeli citizens are suspected in a new human eggs trafficking probe, under the umbrella of a medical company, based in Bucharest, Romanian news website Gandul reported. They paid 600-800 EUR to poor Romanian students ant get 3000-4000 EUR from women from Israel who came in Romania for in vitro fertilisation.
The trade of human eggs is considered illegal and the precedent is the famous case of Sabyc clinic in Bucharest, also Israel connection.
According to the company’s website, one of the doctors is Prof. Raphael Ron-El, head of the in vitro fertilization unit at Assaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin and one of Israel’s leading fertility experts. Several years ago, media revealed he also worked for Sabyc, but left the clinic before the prosecutors’ investigation.
