German carmaker Daimler (Mercedes) is planning to open a plant in Romania, to produce parts, Romanian media said. According to Ziarul Financiar, qouted by romania-insider.com, Romanian Government and Daimler have already signed documents.
No location has been revealed yet. Romanian media said the news is unexpected, since Daimler has already opened a factory in the region, in the neighbouring Hungary, several years ago.
BMW, Audi and Daimler have been interested in opening a production plant in Romania, according to press reports in the recent years. BMW showed interest in opening a factory near the city of Lugoj, Western Romania, local officials said in 2012.
