Romanian MPs reject „Rosia Montana” gold mine law

Romanian Parliament’s committee for Rosia Montana gold mine project has decided to reject the law initiatied by the Government. This decision seems to put an end to more than two months of  controversies around the project, started when the Government sent a special law to the Parliament.

The committee ask for a new law that would have to cover all the gold mine activities in Romania, and not only those related to a specific project or company.

The MPs also ask for a prosecutors’ investigation into some activities related to the Rosia Montana gold project, including the transfer of the gold mining licence from the Romanian  state to the company, years ago.
